2025 Los Angeles County Wildfires

The 2025 Los Angeles County wildfires were a fast‑moving series of destructive fires that ignited between January 7, 2025 and January 31, 2025, driven by severe Santa Ana winds and extreme drought conditions. The two largest blazes—the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire—swept through suburban communities, together destroying more than 16,000 structures, burning over 37,000 acres, and forcing more than 180,000 residents to evacuate.

​FEMA declared a federal disaster, DR-4856-CA California Wildfires and Straight Line Winds, on January 8, 2025. This dashboard tracks the disaster response using FEMA Individual Assistance data, including total number of applications, applications approved for assistance, the average amounts of assistance, and applicant demographics. The disaster was only declared for Los Angeles County, but data can be filtered at the zip code level.
