2025 South Texas Floods

In March 2025, severe storms caused flooding in South Texas. Six to 12 inches of rain fell across the region, with some cities getting over 21 inches of rain in two days. A federal major disaster declaration (DR-4871-TX) was granted in May 2025, including FEMA Individual Assistance for households in four counties: Hidalgo, Cameron, Willacy, and Starr. More than 18,000 people applied for assistance.

This dashboard tracks disaster response using FEMA Individual Assistance data, including total number of applications, applications approved for assistance, the average amounts of assistance, and applicant demographics. Data is available for all four counties and can be filtered to the county and zip code level.

The dashboard was last updated on May 21, 2026, one year after the disaster declaration.

The full methodology for this dashboard is available here.

The raw data used in this dashboard is available through OpenFEMA’s API at this link. (This link may not work temporarily if FEMA is updating their databases.)
